Dov Ganchrow

Product & Object Design

Independent product designer Dov Ganchrow, born 1970 in the United States, graduated with distinction from the department of Industrial Design at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design (1993) and is currently an associate professor at the department’s undergraduate and graduate programs and the owner of an independent design studio. The studio was originally cofounded with Prof. Ami Drach (1963-2012) and was called Amidov, a combination of the two designers’ names. The studio was, and continues to be, a major force in the Israeli design industry, designing medical equipment, museum exhibitions, lighting and furniture, as well as experimental and speculative projects.
His work is characterized by in-depth research, clever, boundary-pushing manipulation of materials and technologies, and the use of readymade objects and humor. He has published several design research papers and speaks at academic conferences in Israel and abroad.

Ganchrow was nominated for the 2021 Edmond de Rothschild Design Award for Senior Product Designers.
