Now What? | Shortlist Exhibition 2024
The finalist exhibition for the Edmond de Rothschild Design Award in Visual Communication opened early this month, revealing an impressive array of works – ranging from art and social activism to typography and illustrated books, to branding and digital interfaces.
Over 100 works in various formats are displayed at the spacious Shenkar Rosen Gallery, allowing for independent browsing. The exhibition layout invites viewers to linger in front of screens or touch the postcards and books laid out on the tables. The works span the broad spectrum of visual communication: from art to social activism; typographic systems and illustrated books; branding, digital interfaces, and research projects. The exhibited works emphasize design’s power as a tool for social change and collective healing, with each finalist offering a unique perspective on contemporary challenges.
Adv. Tal Sagi Faran, Director of the Edmond de Rothschild Foundation in Israel, congratulated the finalists on their impressive and meaningful works, which reflect an exceptional and inspiring level of excellence.
“The works in the exhibition present the visual and conceptual beliefs of the finalists. Each of them offers a unique perspective on how design can address current challenges, reshape reality, and propose a vision for the future. The Edmond de Rothschild Design Award continues its tradition of identifying, encouraging, and promoting excellence in Israeli design. This year, more than ever, we recognize the importance of designers in shaping culture and advancing the economy and society.”
