Dorin Frankfurt
Fashion Design
“Throughout my career, I have worked to integrate design with environmental responsibility, cultural dialogue, and social engagement—long before these became part of global discourse.”
Fashion designer and cultural entrepreneur Dorin Frankfurt is one of the leading voices in Israeli design since the 1970s, and her work represents a significant milestone in the development of local fashion and culture. Early in her independent career, she designed costumes for cultural events and musical performances, including iconic outfits for several Eurovision-winning songs. Between 1983 and 2022, she led the fashion brand she founded in Tel Aviv, operating it as an independent studio focused on design and production with an emphasis on sustainability, social responsibility, and local identity.
Throughout her career, she created dozens of collections sold in 21 stores in Israel and abroad, and exhibited internationally. Alongside her design work, she has remained consistently active in the social sphere, guided by values of responsibility, equal opportunity, and sustainability. Her extensive body of work, including more than 200 pieces from the brand’s archive, is currently presented in the exhibition “Working Fashion: Dorin Frankfurt” at the Ashdod Art Museum.
The local jury awarded her a special recognition in acknowledgment of her pioneering, decades-long contribution and her lasting impact on Israeli culture and the fashion field.
