Rami Tareef

Product Design

“Igoals. I learned that design, as a universal Western discipline, still has a significant voyage to address cultural and identity issues unique to communities and societies that are not in the mainstream, such as minority cultures. I realized this was a unique opportunity to engage in a virgin field, and I enthusiastically embraced it as my professional calling”

Rami Tareef is a Druze-Israeli designer, curator, creator, and researcher, working from a deep connection to the material culture and long history of his community in the Middle East. He holds a Bachelor and Master’s degree from Bezalel, alongside a second Master’s degree from the Technion, where he is currently completing a PhD in design. Tareef’s work bridges past and future, tradition and contemporary practice, focusing on questions of identity, cultural preservation, globalization, and marginalized communities. He approaches design as a tool for social intervention and as a response to rapid change. Tareef is a senior lecturer, Head curator of the Design and Architecture department at the Israel Museum, and a member of the Israeli National Council for Culture and the Arts, where he heads the Druze and Circassian culture division.

Rami Tareef was nominated for the 2025 Edmond de Rothschild Design Award for Established Product Designer.
