Tamara Efrat

Textile,Fashion & Jewerly Design

Textile designer Tamara Anna Efrat is a graduate of the Fashion Design department at Shenkar College of Engineering, Design and Art, holds an M.Des degree in Industrial Design and Technology from Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design (with distinction) and was an artist fellow at MIT University, Boston. She is a design lecturer at Shenkar’s Textile Design department and at NB Haifa School of Design, and owner of the independent Tamara Anna Efrat Design Studio.
Efrat’s routine practice is the preservation and revitalization of textile craft traditions using advanced digital technologies. In doing so, she removes them from their historical context and original use and charge them with new social, cultural, political, and aesthetic meanings. Her work deals with textiles, whether directly or indirectly, whether they start with textile research and its translation into new materials, or in an attempt to invent new textile techniques using advanced technologies.

Efrat was nominated for the 2022 Edmond de Rothschild Design Award for Emerging Fashion, Textile, and Jewelry Designers.
