The purpose of the Edmond de Rothschild Design Award is to promote and encourage excellence through public recognition of established designers with a high caliber portfolio of significant volume; to identify and support emerging designers at the start of their career; to boost local interest in contemporary design and enhance international exposure to Israeli design in particular.

Product Design
The award will be granted to designers whose work encompasses the field of product and industrial design, including medical and industrial equipment, consumer products and services, furniture, toys, tools, integrated objects with digital interfaces, and refers to items produced in limited series and up to mass production.
Fashion Design
The award will be granted to designers whose body of work focuses on fashion design, including clothing and accessories, with an emphasis on original design, pattern development, innovative materials and technologies, limited edition capsule collections, and up to extensive series production.

The Edmond de Rothschild Design Award is carried out with the Shenkar Design Research Center. The center, operating since 2006, Engages in documentation, research, teaching and presentation of local design, and works in collaboration with institutions, studios, collectors and academies in the field of visual culture in Israel. The center has an extensive and unique collection in all fields of local design, accessible to the academic community and the general public.
